With the goal of taking a more holistic, integrative approach to providing health services for students, the University of Chicago's new Student Wellness Center consolidated the departments of Health, Counseling, and Wellness into a single facility to enhance student care. The LEED Gold facility, located on the ground level of the historic Lying-In Hospital, was renovated in keeping with its context and expanded to infill an existing courtyard to create more program space. The design included 18 exam rooms and 29 counseling offices.
