Local Hiring
GMA hires individuals from the community in which a project is located on every project the firm undertakes. Community hires often start out as laborers working directly with the on-site project management team. Through our partnerships with accredited training programs, community hires have the opportunity to complete education courses required to grow a career in the construction industry.
Training and Education
GMA employees are encouraged to participate in opportunities for continuing education. Our internal training program, Griggs University, provides professional development for all aspects of the business. For example, each year, a cohort of project management team members are selected to participate in a 12-week program preparing the participants to take the next step in their career. The courses are based on material Cornelius developed when he established the Construction Management degree program at City Colleges of Chicago.
Internships
GMA's internship program seeks to introduce both high school and college students to the excitement of a career in construction. Our interns participate in all aspects of our organization rotating through multiple roles, including both office- and project-based, to maximize their exposure to the business.
